Now let us look at the various basic steps you need to take to maintain personal hygiene as a CNA.  As the first step, you need to take a shower everyday.  This will keep you fresh and clean and it will remove the entire foul odor arising from your body.  This is very important since your profession needs you to work in close spaces with your patients while performing your nursing duties.  It is good to avoid wearing powerful cologne or perfume as these will make the patients feel sick.  As always you need to brush your teeth properly and wash your hair regularly.  Your hair should be made in such a way that it does not interfere with your nursing duties and must never even be seen in your patient’s food.

Your nails must be dirt free and trimmed neatly.  Your must avoid sporting long nails as these can accumulate bacteria and germs when you are washing the body parts of the patient or cleaning the patient after he has defecated or passed urine.  It is therefore necessary that you must maintain a high level of personal hygiene not only to prevent yourself from getting infections but also to take good care of the patients.
